Content Publishing Workflow Checklist
A repeatable publishing workflow protects accuracy while reducing last-minute friction. Use this checklist as a starting point, then assign an owner and evidence standard to every step that matters to your publication.
Before drafting
Define the reader, question, desired outcome and evidence needed. Search the existing archive for overlap, choose the canonical topic owner and list internal pages that should connect to the new article. Confirm sources, permissions and any dates that will make the piece stale.
Create a brief with a working headline, outline, primary intent and reviewer. If AI assists with research organization or drafting, provide verified source material and keep a human responsible for factual claims.
During writing and review
Lead with a direct answer, then add the detail a reader needs to act. Use descriptive headings, concrete examples and plain language. Mark uncertain facts for verification instead of smoothing them into confident prose. Attribute evidence and disclose relevant commercial relationships.
Review structure, accuracy, originality, tone and accessibility separately. Check names, figures, links, quotations, image rights, captions and alternative text. Remove repetition added only to target a phrase.
Before and during publication
Set the final slug, search title, meta description, category, limited useful tags, featured image and publication date. Preview desktop and mobile output. Confirm canonical markup, article schema, navigation, internal links and sitemap eligibility match the visible article.
Publish through the approved account and record any required distribution. Verify the public URL returns the intended status, primary content appears in HTML and social previews use the correct title and image.
After publication
Monitor reader questions, broken links, indexing signals and material changes to the subject. Correct errors transparently and update the modified date only when meaningful content changes. Merge or redirect overlapping pieces instead of allowing near-duplicates to accumulate.
Schedule reviews for evergreen guidance and explicit expiry for time-sensitive material. EdgeOrigin keeps content, metadata, revisions and optional distribution tools in one tenant workspace so this operating routine can continue after launch.
EdgeOrigin publishes practical website guidance grounded in current platform capabilities. We do not promise search rankings. Product details and external search tools can change, so verify requirements that are critical to your business.
