Platform Architecture & Edge Runtime
An in-depth look at EdgeOrigin serverless edge delivery, database isolation, and template compilation.
Serverless Edge Runtime
Unlike traditional platforms that rely on single-origin web servers and separate databases, EdgeOrigin runs natively on global edge workers with sub-10ms database transactions and instantaneous server-side rendering (SSR).
Core Architectural Layers
- Authoritative Edge Database (D1): Stores site settings, pages, articles, categories, menus, and plugin configurations with strict tenant isolation.
- Theme & Template Engine: Combines global design tokens, block-tree layouts, and universal template precedence (Header, Footer, Single Page, Single Post, Archive).
-
Sandboxed Plugin Environment:
Executes lifecycle hooks (such as
headScriptsandfooterScripts) safely without risking core runtime stability. - Anycast Edge Caching & Delivery: Serves pre-rendered, search-optimized HTML with automated canonical enforcement and instant cache purging on publish.
Strict Tenant Isolation
Every site workspace operates in complete cryptographic and logical isolation. API tokens generated for one website cannot read or mutate any other tenant's resources, ensuring enterprise-grade multi-tenant security for agencies and businesses alike.
